HPR-E High Current EMI/EMC Filter - Extended Burn-In Feedthrough Filters

HPR Circuit Diagram

NexTek HPR-E Series high current EMI/EMC feedthrough filters extend the HPR platform with additional burn-in, screening, and Extreme Environment / High-Rel configuration options.

Built for high vibration, high altitude, and other extreme environments, HPR-E filters support military, aerospace, industrial laser, and mission-critical power systems where EMI/EMC performance must be maintained under demanding conditions.

HPR-E configurations undergo a 96-hour burn-in cycle and screening. Standard E-Class versions have been tested and qualified to MIL-C-49467 Group A ratings, with specialized custom units available to support MIL-PRF-55681, MIL-PRF-123, or customer SCD requirements.

What Makes the HPR-E High Current EMI Filters Different?

HPR-E filters build on NexTek’s HPR high-current feedthrough filter platform with added burn-in, screening, and high-reliability configuration options for extreme-environment applications.

The E Series is intended for programs where EMI/EMC filtering must be paired with additional screening for shock, vibration, altitude, and other demanding operating conditions.

Key HPR-E Series advantages include:

  • 96-hour burn-in cycle and screening
  • Excellent EMI filtering from 1kHz to greater than 1GHz
  • Current ratings from 50A to 400A
  • Voltage ratings up to 1000Vdc and 480Vac
  • High capacitance ratings and tolerances
  • Tested and qualified to MIL-C-49467 Group A ratings
  • Specialized custom units available to support MIL-PRF-55681, MIL-PRF-123, or customer SCD requirements

Applications for HPR-E High Current Feedthrough Filters

HPR-E high current feedthrough filters are well-suited for applications where EMI/EMC filtering must be paired with additional reliability screening or extreme-environment performance requirements.

They are ideal for power systems exposed to high vibration, high altitude, harsh operating conditions, or uptime-sensitive reliability requirements, particularly where emissions and susceptibility compliance must be taken into account.

Common applications include:

Why Choose an Extended Burn-In EMI Filter?

In extreme-environment or mission-critical systems, engineers may require more than standard electrical filtering performance.

HPR-E filters retain the high-current C-type feedthrough filtering capabilities of the HPR platform, while adding a 96-hour burn-in cycle and E-Series screening for applications with harsh shock and vibration exposure, altitude concerns, military requirements, or customer-specific qualification needs.

HPR-E High Current EMI/EMC Filters Recommended Products

NexTek offers HPR-E Series filters across multiple current, voltage, and capacitance configurations for applications requiring extended burn-in and high-rel screening.

HPR-E units are specified with an “E” suffix as an Extreme Environment/High-Rel designation (ex. HPR1401004Z10E).

Available capacitance and voltage ranges vary by model. Review the appropriate datasheet or contact NexTek to confirm the right current rating, voltage rating, capacitance, tolerance, and screening requirements.

FAQs

What is an HPR-E high current EMI filter?

An HPR-E high current EMI filter is an Extreme Environment / High Rel version of NexTek’s HPR high-current feedthrough filter platform. HPR-E filters provide EMI/EMC filtering for high-current power systems while adding extended burn-in and screening for demanding applications.

What is the difference between HPR and HPR-E filters?

HPR filters provide rugged high-current C-type feedthrough filtering across a range of current, voltage, and capacitance configurations. HPR-E filters build on that platform with a 96-hour burn-in cycle, high-rel screening, and E-Series configuration options for harsh shock, vibration, uptime-sensitive, military, or customer-specific requirements.

Why choose an extended burn-in EMI filter?

An extended burn-in EMI filter may be appropriate when the application requires more than standard electrical filtering performance. HPR-E filters are intended for systems where harsh environments, mission-critical operation, military requirements, or customer-specific specifications make additional screening part of the selection process.

Are HPR-E filters suitable for military applications?

Yes. HPR-E filters are designed for extreme-environment and high-reliability applications, and standard E-Class versions have been tested and qualified to MIL-C-49467 Group A ratings. Specialized custom units are also available to support MIL-PRF-55681, MIL-PRF-123, or customer SCD requirements.

Can HPR-E filters be customized?

Yes. Specialized custom HPR-E units are available to support military standards or customer SCD requirements. NexTek can also discuss current rating, voltage rating, capacitance, tolerance, screening, and configuration requirements when a standard HPR-E option does not fully align with the application.
